notice my newest "my views" photo...this is one of my absolute favorite images from our trip. we were in the Transkei Region on the southeastern coast, a rural area. on this day we visited the village of Bukwini to distribute food parcels to the children in the village that are part of a child sponsorship program. there is no chief in the village, so the council runs the show. this photo was taken during a council meeting between the village council members and daniel and kristi, our friends working with Oceans of Mercy.
remember, this is how "my views" works: i post one of my photos and i want your feedback! this particular photo has not been edited. give me tips, comments, questions, criticisms and accolades! i want to know specifics, what do you like or not like? what would you do differently? i'm trying to grow here!

Hi. So I guess it's spelled Bukwini. Who knew? Anyways, I don't so much know anything about the editing part of the photo making process...but that is a great shot. Yay you!
i don't so much know about the editing either...which is why i usually don't do much or any editing!
Wonderful picture, friend! The colors are just wonderful---so rich and tells such a great story. I tried to make the picture bigger so I could see more details but was unable. I'd love to be able to see the faces of the men in the background. I also wonder what this picture would look like in black and white. Very good job! Makes me want to go to Africa!
Great picture Mendy. I do love black and white, but I think this one is best left in color. I also wish I could blow it up somehow.
i am still tweaking my "my views" section...i want the pictures to be bigger and i also want to keep all of my pictures in a file or under a link or something, so that people can go back and look at all of them at once. any suggestions from more advanced bloggers?
i also usually prefer black and white, but i just loved how color on the inside of the rondoval (the hut) looked. i had a couple of other pictures from inside and loved them all...but this was my favorite.
ok, i have it set up now so that you can click on either the photo itself or the link under "All My Views Photos" to go to a site that displays all of the photos, past and present. you can click on each photo to enlarge it.
Love the photo, Mendy. The light pouring into the room making a half-silhouette on the gentleman featured in the photo is a great feature of this one. The long shadow created is very stunning as well. Great framing, nice rich colors, the story telling is well done in this photo.
Hey, so did you get your other pictures recovered?
we are still in the process of recovering the other pictures...we've run the recovery program at least 12 times...each time it pulls something new and completely different off the memory card...extremely frustrating experience...the effort to maintain a good attitude was abandoned a few days ago (unfortunately for Kirk)
